.....

Its almost 3. I have to go be at work at 5... I have a ton of reading that I ought to do for school. And right now I want to do one of two things:
1. Sleep
2. Paint my nails.
Yes, #2 is odd, especially for me. However, working in the dishroom has taken a toll on my fingers. Since I'm signing on the weekends for Deaf Church and typing for class throughout the week and trying to finish up a particular gift which requires the nimble use of my fingers, this is not good. But it pays well and is, in my opinion, the best fit for me in food service right now.

My boyfriend and I went to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert last night with his parents to celebrate his mom's birthday. Andrew Peterson and Josh Wilson were there.
So
Good!
They are very talented artists who love the Lord. Soooo encouraging.
SCC did a presentation on the ShowHope organization he and his wife started (check it out here!) and then it turned out that a family who had adopted something like 5 kids through ShowHope happened to be there in the audience so they got to come onstage.
Not gonna lie, I teared up a couple of times thinking of the kids I worked with at Hope House a couple of years ago (check out that ministry here)
I know there's a lot of people joining the adoption movement, but still there are so many more that could join in helping to care for the orphans of the world!!!
Alright I've effectively procrastinated another 15 minutes and my computer battery is about to dies. Guess that's the hint to get back to preparing for my Apologetics 3 presentation :-)

Waiting for class to start

Am waiting for my professor for Interpreting Wisdom Literature to arrive.
He is ten minutes late.
This is nothing unusual. I have taken 2 J-terms with this professor, and I have had many friends who have taken 3 hour block classes with him. We all agree he is brilliant, and predictably late.
However, this is only an hour and a half long class.
And he goes on tangents.
So... I'm not sure that we'll get through the lesson the syllabus indicates we are to get through today.
I spent my first night at the new place last night. It was good however the street light shines directly into my eyes, which means I woke up about five times last night sure it was morning but it wasn't. So... yeah next paycheck I'm investing in some curtain supplies ;-)
My room mates are all very sweet, but talkative ;-) This means that instead of giving myself the usual 1/2-1 hour time frame to get ready, I need to give myself maybe closer to 2 hours to get ready, just to allow for conversations ;-) And brownie tastings, the partaking of coffee together, exchanging vignettes from work, minor complaints about the electricity going off and searching for the breaker, etc. etc. and so forth.
Professor is now thirteen minutes late.
I was asked to speak about Gypsies last week. There was a missions meeting with a focus on unreached people groups. I finally got to speak in public at school! It was fun, a few people have commented on it since then.
On that note, my professor is here! 17 minutes late :-)

Zumba and ESL

Yesterday was buzzzzzzy! I had class (Interpreting Wisdom Literature) from 11:30-12:45, ate lunch with Amber, then had my Theology 1 class from 2:30-5:15 ish. I think I've discovered the secret to paying attention in class. It sounds crazy, but I'm serious when I say doodling helps me pay attention in class! So I have gone back to the old fashion way of taking notes in Theo 1. I'm using my laptop in my Wisdom literature class, but that's because its more helpful to just transcribe what the professor says in this class than take bullet-point notes ;-)
Then I dashed off to work from 5:30-8:20-ish in the dish room. Seminary started, so it was c.r.a.z.y busy. It was fun, because my co-workers all had great attitudes, but there was at least a half hour where I felt like we were doing this intricate, life-threatening dance around the dishroom as we hauled pots and pans full of the ingredients for the entree's, stacks of ceramic plates, tubs of sharp utensils, and buckets of water around each other. Somehow we only dropped a few cups and knives here and there, and no plates were broken.
Then after that I went to Zumba class with Amber. Somehow adrenaline was still rushing after that, so we walked around the track 11 times and then jogged the last lap. My right knee is still screaming at me, and we have swapped many a joke about how we just aren't young any more and must care for our old creaking joints etc. ;-) We took some fun pictures in the locker room but she hasn't sent me copies yet.
Then this morning we got up and went to Friendship International. Amber watches the preschool kids, and I am still trying to find my nitch. Last time I went to the main break out session and then helped Amber, but today I went to the main session and then talked with the ESL coordinator. She really needed help in the 'bootcamp' class. This is the class where the students speak little to no (more towards the no) English. There was a whole group of students from rural China, and then a lady from India, another from Pakistan, one from Libya, and the last lady (who laughed whenever we asked her a question) was from Mexico.

Side note: Why is it so hard to get men involved in group outreaches/ministries/events? It seems like women flock to these events but men won't come unless they are just MANLY men and there is some kind of survival, killing of animals and partaking of red meat drenched in spicy sticky sauce that is charbroiled all together?

Anyway. I am hopefully going to be teaching English as a Second (or third or fourth or fifth etc) language on Wednesday mornings to Internationals who speak little or no English! Very excited. I hope it will be fun.

Now I must go finish making my reading schedule for this semester so that I at least have an idea of how much reading I am procrastinating on per week ;-) Just kidding. Most of the reading looks really really fun, there's just SOOO much of it. And I'm only taking 3 classes! They are all upper level classes though, so quite a few of them are doctoral-type works that were somehow chucked into general circulation for unsuspecting consumers to purchase. Wow that was cynical. Okay must go before I move from cynical to heretical. ;-)
